The Death of Mariana Cordoba
Originally written on March 31, 2016 It has come to my attention that trans-gender porn-star Mariana Cordoba has passed. The details of what happened are scarce. The rumor however, is that she had been murdered, but there are no reliable sources to confirm this. As expected... she was a porn-star, so on a wide scale, no one really cares, and due to that, hardly anyone will know about this tragedy. This brings up the sad fact of how porn-stars are treated in general. Why is it that the moment a Hollywood actor/actress dies, the whole world knows? every media outlet covers it. But when a porn-star dies, you're lucky if you find out about it within the first week it happened. Why don't we have porn news outlets that can tell us these things? It's a billion dollar industry for crying out loud! Regardless if they're well known or lesser known; we often have to dig six feet under just to find out these kinds of things!
A lot of people have this idea that porn-stars are not as important as "regular" people, because they get naked in front of a camera for the world to see, having sex and whatnot -- a natural behavior exhibited in all species that have many beneficial purposes. Half of the people who talk down on porn are the same ones who whack off to it at night or wish they could, but can't due to marriage or religious beliefs. Women [and men] in porn are treated/looked at as sex objects versus human beings who also have lives, emotions and a heart. They deserve the same respect, but are rarely given it.
How did I find out about Mariana's death? It started in a reply I had made on instagram this morning on Fabiola Voguel's [another trans-girl] page to a guy. I mentioned Mariana appearing to be 'off the face of the earth' in comparison to Fabiola and her lack of content. I spoke about how I used to be worried due to her absence, but I ultimately stopped checking around as there were no leads to where she was. I figured maybe she just retired, it's kind of shitty to just leave like that though I had thought. Many retired porn-stars still are active on social media, keeping their fans close, she could have said something.
I haven't thought about her in months, but that reply made me decide to find a video of her and watch it for old times sake, I honestly forgot how stunning she was. I checked out her Xvideos profile and went to the comments -- "R.I.P. cobra" is what had I read a couple comments down, the hair on my arms raised. It was the only comment of it's kind that I had initially saw, but it still alerted me. I began to panic, knowing that people usually say "R.I.P." when someone is dead.
So I went to Google and came across one forum [that I happen to be a member of], and during the start of this month, some guys were discussing the rumor of her apparent death. One individual mentioned how her blog was updated on the 16th, implying that she must be alive. Another person refuted that idea though, he claimed most of those "updates" are old photos form years ago, in which he was right. He went on to say how it's 'fucked up' that whoever still has access to her site is not informing anyone of her passing.
Kelly pierce, trans porn-star had stated that she's dead as well (you can read her IG post here https://www.instagram.com/p/BCi8OxTje4A/?taken-by=mrskellypierceI) as someone pointed out. And now, in light of this information and me being pissed and also sad, I've decided to create the photo that you see above. I will also do a tribute video and upload that sometime in the next few days.
It may be because I'm a highly empathetic person or just beccause I generally care, but this affects me nonetheless. Its the second time that a porn-star that I was an avid fan of had died. The first one was Alicia Tyler years ago, but information around her death was more detailed and 'out there'. I've never met or will probably never meet a porn-star, but it feels like I know them in a way. They enter our homes and make us feel good, help us explore our sexuality, ease our stress, and so forth. Just how that certain actor/actress makes us laugh, cry, angry or think, we begin to like them and care about them on and off screen. This is no different. Here's to Mariana Cordoba, may her beautiful soul rest in peace.
[UPDATE: August 28, 2017] Another rumor is claiming that Mariana had HIV and was the transgender woman that gave the actor Charlie Sheen the disease, dying later for seemingly similar, yet unknown reasons. I don't know who started this rumor and where the hell it comes from but it sure hasn't gotten us any further than where we were a year ago. I checked her Xhamster account again which has been oddly active even after the news of her death. Someone was logged in her account 13 days ago... who? why? will we ever get closure? Or will the years continue to go by, feeling fucked over while her ghost account just hangs in the far distance not saying a damn word?
